The City of Gates – Aurangabad – #WorldTourismDay

As you know Aurangabad is one of the largest and most popular city in India. It is a city in the Aurangabad district of Maharashtra state in India. Aurangabad has been in the news for many reasons and as we all know today is World Tourism Day i wanted to share some photos of Aurangabad which i found today on AMC Commissioner’s twitter handle @commissionerau2

Aurangabad is known as the City of Gates and is also the Tourism Capital of Marathwada. All the gates have been added life by putting these colorful lights which are just amazing. Aurangabad is surrounded by many historical monuments, including the Ajanta Caves and Ellora Caves, which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites, as well as Bibi Ka Maqbara and Panchakki.

History of Aurangabad

Khadki was the original name of the village which was made a capital city by Malik Ambar, the Prime Minister of Murtaza Nizam, Shah of Ahmadnagar. Within a decade, Khadki grew into a populous and imposing city. Malik Ambar died in 1626. He was succeeded by his son Fateh Khan, who changed the name of Khadki to Fatehnagar. With the capture of Daulatabad by the imperial troops in 1633, the Nizam Shahi dominions, including Fatehnagar, came under the possession of the Mughals.

In 1653 when Mughal prince Aurangzeb was appointed the viceroy of the Deccan for the second time, he made Fatehnagar his capital and renamed it Aurangabad. Aurangabad is sometimes referred to as Khujista Bunyad by the Chroniclers of Aurangzeb’s reign.

In 1724, Asif Jah, a Turkic general and Nizam al-Mulk of the Mughals in the Deccan region, decided to secede from the crumbling Mughal Empire, with the intention of founding his own dynasty in the Deccan and decided to make Aurangabad his capital. His son and successor, Nizam Ali Khan Asaf Jah II transferred his capital from Aurangabad to Hyderabad in 1763. In 1795, the city came under the Maratha rule, following the Maratha victory in the Battle of Kharda, along with an indemnity of 30 million rupees paid by Ali Khan Asaf Jah II, Nizam of Hyderabad to the Marathas. However, Maratha rule lasted only eight years before the city came under the rule of the Nizam of Hyderabad, under the protection of the British East India Company, following the British victory in the Second Anglo-Maratha War. During the period of the British Raj, the city was known as Aurangabad.

Aurangabad was a part of the Princely State of Hyderabad during the British Raj, until its annexation into the Indian Union after the Indian Independence in 1947, and thereafter a part of Hyderabad state of India until 1956. In 1956 it became a part of the newly formed bilingual Bombay state and in 1960 it became a part of Maharashtra state.

Aurangabad is one of the largest cities in India, Most of the colleges of the region are affiliated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU) which is located in Aurangabad and as a result the city is emerging as a prominent location for IT and manufacturing.

In 2008, Aurangabad was one of the fastest growing cities in Asia.

In 2010, Aurangabad was in news for placing single largest order for Mercedes Benz cars in a single transaction in India — 150 Mercedes Benz cars worth Rs 65 crore. Without a local Mercedes-Benz showroom and encountering an indifferent Mercedes-Benz dealer in the nearest city, a group of successful citizens pooled their orders and negotiated a record agreement with the firm. Soon after that, bulk purchase order of 101 BMW cars was also placed.

10 Years of Blogging

As you all know my name is Shaikh Noman Ahmed and i lived in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India. I am a Teacher by profession and today i have completed 10 years of Blogging.

I am founder of Trend Adda

I like to learn new things about blogging. I also like to keep in touch with trending topics related to Blogging, Education, Internet, Social Media and Technology.

My Blogging Journey :

It all started when i was a teenager. A Computer Addicted Boy who like to use his desktop everyday and install new software’s and games on it. I was very much curious about the new and creative ways performed in the computer and which has helped me in ease of my work, efficiently, Now what can be more exciting for a 90’s kid, Internet has been one of the revolution for youngsters of my age and many others, i think the time was very much suitable, I got my own computer where i can experiment anything and family to support me to become something good in computers. i  used to learn from the internet by going to the internet cafe’s and also take help of my cousin brothers and computer teacher. I remember the very first HTML lecture i had the school. The Teacher showed me how with the help of some HTML Tags you can add colored texts, images which moves onto your screen and also show a graphical representation in the browser. It was amazing. My interest level just reached to a new level, i was deeply motivated and decided to have my own online presence in the future then after some years, after my 12th, i started searching for my dream and luckily i got to know we can have our own website. So i google it and found some sites. All i need was an email address and to fill some details and click on that REGISTER BUTTON.!!! I have registered on many free hosting sites and this has really helped me a lot to understand about the World Wide Web. The more i searched on the internet the more i get to know about ‘How To Create’ Free Websites. Then one day i found Blogger.com. All i know at that time is that it is own by a search giant Google and requires a Gmail ID. So i decided to give a try. I first registered my blog on blogger.com in September 2008. i found posting a blog post is very interesting and unique way of sharing the things which you like, dislike and the things which people want to know about you. Blogger.com has became my daily routine, it’s was a dairy to me and a very important part of my life. I used to connect my mobile phone to the computer and connect the internet via GPRS. The speed of the internet connection was slow and also the viewers of my blog were very few. But my dream worth more than any other thing exists at that time. After 6 months, April 2009, I found WordPress.com which has a lot of features than blogger. I signed up and created a blog under my name but i hardly post on my wordpress blog. Since then i have created many blogs of different types and categories on both the platforms and also deleted them later when i can’t able to post on that particular niche anymore or when i was receiving no response on my blogs. In the 2012 i registered my first self hosted WordPress blog on an Indian Hosting but it ain’t go well, not because of hosting but the domain name i choose for my blog – Gr8Blogs.in – It had a number, it was unable to recognize easily, it was in plural and when i like to go with a .com domain name. The desire and passion of blogging didn’t stop me there. After giving many thoughts, a year later i registered the domain name – Trend Adda (31 January 2013) and later this personal blog on 27 September 2013. This has helped me growing my blogging experience and i would like to share it with my readers and other bloggers here on this blog. I am also planning to create ‘Ebooks’ and videos on ‘Blogging Tips and Tutorials’ for the newbie bloggers and intermediate bloggers to achieve success in Blogging.

Is Aurangabad developing?

My answer to a random question on Quora. Is Aurangabad developing.?

I really don’t think so.

The last time i heard about the development of Aurangabad City is almost 10 years ago. It’s said to be the fastest growing city in Asia for many reasons viz., MIDC Industries was booming the city, Companies like Skoda, Ford & Maruti has step their foot in manufacturing goods and service in the city, Multiplexes like PVR & Fame Cinemas and Prozone Shopping Mall have been greatly welcomed by the residents of the city.

And Yes, Aurangabadians, have all of this today but there is a lot to dofor the city to get its title back of ‘One of the Fastest Growing City in Asia’

There are many reasons why today Aurangabad City is among the slowest developing city in Asia. And they are as follows :

  1. No proper roads and too much potholes on roads.
  2. Often switched off street lights, electric poles on roads and open Electric DP’s in the city.
  3. Too much dust on the roads. This has increased the number of cases of accidents and blur vision/improper functioning of the eyes.
  4. No proper pipeline, drainage and chamber system. The drinking water often get mixed up with the drainage pipelines.
  5. No proper place for dustbins and also no place for dumping waste and garbage. Poor management by A.M.C (Aurangabad Municipal Corporation) – till today – March 2018.
  6. Salim Ali Sarvar Lake Closed from time unknown. Surai Garden has been taking so long to get constructed which left visitors with no options apart from visiting these two places viz., Bibi Ka Maqbara and Siddharth Garden. Such places should be constructed by the Government for the people of this city and also for the outside visitors of the city.
  7. S.T Bus Service should create Bus Stands/Stations within the city to reach from one place to another in low fare. So that more number of people can visit places specially senior citizens.
  8. AMC (Aurangabad Municipal Corporation) should start Tours and Travels Service or Aurangabad Darshan kind of a thing in low fares for the visitors of the city so that AMC can also earn some amount of money and spend in maintaining and improving the interiors of the city. But unfortunately despite of maintaining it demolishing is taking place in Aurangabad. As the city is very well known for its historical and geographical events and also known as ‘The City of Gates’ created in the Mughal Era these gates are not maintained properly (ex.: Khas Gate, Jinsi) have been totally demolished including few structures of the Mughal Era.
  9. Education system – It is said that besides having Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University the city lacks in quality and early up-gradation of the syllabus, research and development. Many students of the University guide to the newly admits about taking admissions to another Universities for better Job Opportunities and Good Income.
  10. Jobs – Because of the low Education System the newly passed outs of the city are not getting desired jobs. The youth has been going under depression and often leaves the city and are willing to work in cities like Pune, Mumbai etc. with low incomes.

These are roughly ten, but few major points which i have listed above and are the main causes where citizens and the responsible authorities should take a stand to create a better future for the people of the Aurangabad City.

Please comment down or comment on Quora (click here) about Is Aurangabad really developing the way it should be.?

Thank you.
